Tottenham transfer news: Real Madrid convinced they will land Spurs striker Harry Kane next summer

REAL MADRID are convinced they will land Harry Kane in a stunning transfer this summer.

Kane, who starred in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu on Tuesday, is already their No 1 target.

Now Spurs face a season-long battle to keep hold of their prized asset — a fight they lost when winger Gareth Bale moved to Spain for a then world-record of £86million in 2013.

And it is clear only a fee close to the £198m world record Paris Saint-Germain paid Barcelona for Neymar in the summer could tempt the Londoners to sell.

Tottenham have no intention of letting their 24-year-old superstar leave  and the England striker insists he is happy at the club.

But the appeal of playing for 12-time European Cup winners Real is impossible to turn down, especially for players with ambitions of winning the big trophies.

Kane admitted during the recent international break he could “never say never” about a move abroad at some point in his career, despite also claiming a number of times he is  prepared to commit the rest of his career to Spurs.

The club, whose last  silverware was the 2008 Carling Cup, have not even thought about putting a valuation on him as they have not considered cashing in on one of their own.

Kane faces Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday as one of the world’s most wanted forwards after starting  this season with another avalanche of goals.

He previously resisted interest from Italian giants Napoli in 2015 to stay at White Hart Lane, despite a serious attempt from the Serie A side to prise him away.

Kane has already got his hands on a Real Madrid shirt after swapping with Cristiano Ronaldo following their Champions League clash.

The Spurs ace said: “I asked for his shirt and I am going to get it framed.

“Cristiano has been a role model for me.

“I gave him my shirt too but I don’t know what he’ll do with it.”

Meanwhile, it has also emerged that Real see Mauricio Pochettino (below) as a possible successor to Zinedine Zidane.

Spurs’ boss impressed Bernabeu chiefs with his conduct in Spain last week.

Real president, Florentino Perez, made it clear he has absolutely no plans to get rid of current coach Zizou.

But he has told pals that if Zidane did leave, then Poch would be in the frame to take over.

The Argie, 45, has done an outstanding job since taking charge of Spurs in June 2014, steering them to second in the Premier League last season.
