Steve Bruce is ready to ‘break the bank’ to sign Tottenham loanee Josh Onomah permanently
Onomah returned to the Aston Villa line-up and was the stand-out performer in 2-1 win over promotion rivals Fulham
STEVE BRUCE says Aston Villa will "try to break the bank" for England Under-21 star Josh Onomah.
The 20-year-old midfielder was the stand-out performer in Saturday's 2-1 win over Fulham.
And Bruce would love to turn his loan move from Tottenham into a permanent one.
“Josh Onomah was terrific," purred Bruce. “We’ll try and break the bank for him!
“But we know Spurs have got a very good player there.”
Onomah was allowed to leave Spurs despite having made 32 appearances for in all competitions.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino allowed him to go despite usually opting to retain his brightest stars around the first-team squad.
It will be difficult for Bruce to prise Onomah away from the north London club but promotion to the Premier League would help.

The man-of-the-match had started the last six games on the bench but returned to inspire Villa to success over their promotion rivals.
Onomah pulled off a series of sliding tackles and vital interceptions, and expertly tracked down the Fulham runners.
He also set up Albert Adomah for the deciding goal.
And the Villa scene seems to suit the youngster. He said:
"It has definitely been important to get the loan move and to get minutes this season.
"I feel a lot fitter and stronger.
