FOR the first time, Wembley felt like home for Tottenham.

Just four days after the 1-1 draw with Real Madrid, Mauricio Pochettino ‘s side delivered another magnificent performance.

They tore apart Liverpool’s joke of a defence with Harry Kane scoring twice along with Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli.

Mo Salah made it 2-1 but ultimately, Spurs were far too good for Liverpool who – despite the 7-0- battering of Maribor – have won just twice in 10 games.

Under Klopp, they seem to be going backwards.

This was a cracking game and a world away from the goalless draw between Liverpool and Manchester United eight days earlier.

Diego Maradona was at the game and despite resembling a large barrel, he would still fancy his chances against Liverpool’s defence and bungling keeper Simon Mignolet.

Less than four minutes on the clock and Kane was at it again.

Kieran Trippier delivered an excellent chip over the head of the hopeless Dejan Lovren who lasted little more than 30 minutes.

Kane raced through, Mignolet rushed off his line and the key moment was when the England star took a touch to nudge the ball away from Joel Matip but somehow kept on his feet. He then got his boot around the ball to steer it into the net.

The goal in the 12th minute was equally as impressive as Liverpool were torn apart and embarrassed.

A harmless cross from James Milner sailed into the hands of Hugo Lloris and he produced a long throw which looped over the head of Lovren, who once again found himself stranded.

Kane went off on a canter and then crafted a stunning pass towards Son who had raced clear of James Milner and Joe Gomez. He then made a difficult finish look easy. Son scored 21 times last season but this was only his second.

Son then saw a powerful effort hit the bar and remarkably, the game swung in Liverpool’s favour, albeit briefly.

Kane felt he was fouled by Roberto Firmino but referee Andre Marriner let play continue. Jordan Henderson threaded an outstanding ball through, Jan Vertonghen in particular was too slow for Salah and the Egyptian sent a slightly miscued effort bobbling past Lloris via the inside of the pot.

After 31 minutes, there would have been relief for Liverpool fans when Lovren made way for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Joe Gomez slotted into central defence with Emre Can moving to right-back.

Son should have made it 3-1 but did not get enough power on a shot when clean through yet in first half injury time, Alli put them 3-1 up.

Can was booked for a challenge on Alli and from Christian Eriksen’s free-kick, Matip delivered a weak header and Alli pounced with a volley from the edge of the box.

Kane made it 4-1 as Mignolet made a mess of Kieran Trippier’s free-kick. While Vertonghen’s shot was blocked by Firmino, Kane does not miss chances like this

Tottenham’s fans sang about Kane being one of their own. Liverpool’s fans started leaving.

Coutinho forced a brilliant save from Lloris who pushed the ball onto the post and the Frenchman also used his feet to keep out Salah.

But at no stage did Liverpool look like getting back into the game and this was a terrible day for Klopp.

WHAT THEY SAID

Tottenham goalscorer Harry Kane said: "We wanted to start fast and get the crowd on their feet and that’s what we did.

"I thought we played really well. Their goal came against the run of play. We were pushing and could have got the third or fourth goal early on.

"Getting the one right before half-time really helped us and we played really well in the second half. Very happy with the performance."

Spurs star Son Heung-Min said: "We deserved to win, the early goal was very important from this monster (Harry Kane).

"We have to just keep thinking positive like we did today. We worked really hard every home game to get three points."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp told Sky Sports: "The whole game the whole result was all our fault - Tottenham was good, they needed to be good, but we made it much too easy for them.

"The first goal was a little throw in and we are not really there. It was just really bad, bad, bad defending. The second, a counter attack, when the ball passes Dejan Lovren it is already too late.

"Coming back in the game with the goal we had our chances, but it's nothing to talk about today.

"The third one, it's a completely open situation. We make the foul, again, all our fault. The fourth - second ball and third ball for Tottenham, their desire was bigger than ours.

"The game was finished then. We came here for a result and had not one second to get a result."
