NO DEFENCE

Jamie Carragher puts his finger on Liverpool’s problems in one telling tweet

Four of Jurgen Klopp's back five are predecessor Brendan Rodgers' signings - and they're costing the Reds dear

JAMIE CARRAGHER put his finger on Liverpool's defensive frailties with one telling tweet.

The former Reds and England defender watched his old team ship goals by the barrel load at Wembley.

Dejan Lovren was badly at fault for the first two goals in the 4-1 loss and he was substituted for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before half-time.

Liverpool switched to three at the back.

But the Reds' defensive problems returned late in the half as Dele Alli pounced on Joel Matip's poor clearance to volley Spurs into a 3-1 lead.

That was after Mohamed Salah had pulled one back.

Carragher took to Twitter to point out that Liverpool's defence has been their weakness since Brendan Rodgers' reign.

And that four of the back five remain Rodgers' players.

Lovren, Joe Gomez, Alberto Moreno and Simon Mignolet were all signed by Rodgers.

The sad fact is Liverpool are always likely to ship a goal or three.

However good there attack may be, they rarely have the right answers at the back.

Whether defending against sheer pace or set pieces Jurgen Klopp's men are always likely to fall for a sucker punch.

Especially as Klopp has steadfastly refused to sign his own men in a bid to boost his back four.

Kane, by the way, swooped for a late second goal after an error by Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet.
