Why Arsene Wenger finds it ‘difficult to believe’ Mesut Ozil will leave Arsenal

Gunners'  boss wipes away summer of discontent to heap praise on 'superb, agile, quick, intelligent' German playmaker

MESUT OZIL'S masterclass at Everton has led Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to conclude one thing...

That the German playmaker doesn't want to leave the Emirates.

A summer of discontent has seen Ozil embroiled in transfer speculation amid claims that he is demanding £300,000 a week.

But he came up trumps at Goodison Park in Arsenal's 5-2 win that really turned the screw on under-fire Toffees' manager Ronald Koeman.

Ozil, strongly linked with a move to Manchester United, turned in a really strong display. He scored and Wenger purred:

"We live in an environment where we have to deal with the news and the players and myself have only always one response, which is what’s happening on the football pitch.

"When you see Mesut on the football pitch like he is today, enjoying his game like he is today, it’s difficult to believe these kind of things.

"He was superb. Agile, quick, intelligent.

"Always at the service of the team with his quality of his passing and when he is at that level, he is an exceptional football player."

Alexis Sanchez also impressed, scoring a late goal after a characteristically dynamic run.

"He was on fire," Wenger added. "I believe that he comes back from injury and has worked very hard, Ozil as well.

" The two of them were sharp physically, very mobile and if you have their individual quality, that makes them dangerous against any defender."
