Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren removes club’s name from his Instagram bio after Jurgen Klopp criticism

The Reds centre-back had a nightmare first half against Tottenham at Wembley, where he was at fault for two goals, resulting in him being substituted in the 31st minute

DEJAN LOVREN has taken drastic measurements after his shocker against Tottenham on Sunday by appearing to remove "Liverpool" from his Instagram bio.

The Reds centre-back was criticised by boss Jurgen Klopp after the 4-1 loss against Spurs at Wembley, after he was at fault for the two opening goals.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min put Mauricio Pochettino's men 2-0 up before the 12th minute - and Lovren was brutally replaced in the 31st minute by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It looks like he decided to erase Liverpool from his online profile afterwards, although stars such as Romelu Lukaku have had their Instagram profiles hacked and Lovren may have been a victim himself.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Klopp failed to defend the 28-year-old, he said: "The whole game, the whole result was all our fault - Tottenham was good, they needed to be good, but we made it much too easy for them.

"The first goal was a little throw in and we are not really there. It was just really bad, bad, bad defending.

"The second, a counter attack, when the ball passes Dejan Lovren it is already too late."

Klopp also didn't hold back on Lovren's defending for Kane's opener, he added: "If I am involved in this situation on the pitch, then Harry cannot get the ball.

SI'S NO1 You will NEVER guess who has been the Premier League's top keeper this season

"I could have been out there in my trainers and they wouldn’t have scored.

"We had it felt like 60, 70 per cent possession, but after 2-0, you saw the goals, what we did around the goals, easy to defend, we have defended situations like this all season."

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has came to the defence of Lovren, blaming Klopp for Liverpool conceding a Premier League high of 15 away goals.

He told Super Sport: "It's very important to underline that he (Klopp) never ever said anything to him (Lovren) and he's killed that player.

"And in fact it hasn't helped, they are still defending like it's their first time ever. The way they defend today and have been defending all season is so naive and Jurgen Klopp needs to take responsibility.

"What he's done now is put all the responsibility over to Lovren. He will now be in the headlines for this, and that’s really unfair. That should be the manager."
