Who is Rhian Brewster?

Rhian Brewster joined the Liverpool academy from Chelsea two years ago.

The striker's impressive form saw him propelled to the under-23s last season.

He has often been named among the substitutes at Anfield and if, or rather when, he makes his debut he will become the first Liverpool player born in the 21st century.

What has Jurgen Klopp said about him?

Klopp has made a statement of intent by refusing to loan Brewster out despite wide interest from EFL clubs.

The German said of the player in April: “Rhian made outstanding steps in the last few months because the Talent Group is training once a week here at Melwood with Pep Lijnders and I can see them.

"I’ve followed him for more than a year and as it is for boys of his age they grow, it’s good.

"Physically stronger, wonderfully skilled boy, real striker, good finisher, fantastic work ethic and all that stuff.

“But if all players are fit he will not be in the squad, of course not, why should he? He’s 17 years old now and already plays U21 youth football (U23).

"He’ll do this next year also and that’s a wonderful step for him and is the next stage in his development.

“All is good but if all the other players are fit Rhian is not involved in the matchday squad.

“But he was on the bench last week because we thought he deserved it and we could use him in the right moment.

"It was not (the right moment) for this but that does not mean it will not happen again in the future.

“He’s in a very good way, he’s a very good boy.”
