Luke Shaw fears being frozen out at Manchester United as Jose Mourinho is ‘refusing to speak to him’
LUKE SHAW fears his Manchester United career is effectively over after a breakdown in relations with manager Jose Mourinho.
According to reports, the pair have not been on speaking terms this season and the left-back fears he is on "borrowed time."
Shaw came on for only three minutes during United's 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Swansea, following a lengthy period of rehab from a foot injury picked up towards the end of last season.
The 22-year-old performed his own regime during pre-season training, but has been back up to match fitness in recent weeks, but is still on the fringes of Mourinho's plans.
Many fans cannot see why Shaw is so far down the pecking order, given his ability, but Mourinho has criticised his positional awareness, defending and fitness since taking over at the start of last season.
The former Southampton man looks likely to head for the exit door at Old Trafford, while his form in 2014-15 and the start of 2015-16 remains his most impressive spell at the club, when Louis van Gaal was in charge.

Shaw then broke his leg and spent the rest of the season on the sidelines before Mourinho came in at the start of last term.
In September, the Englishman tweeted a sentimental image of his United debut, suggesting he is ready to fight for his place.

The tweet read: "Three years ago today I made my debut for @ManUtd. Time flies but there is much more to come! #ProudToBeARed #MUFC"
But back in April, Mourinho criticised Shaw's approach to training and commitment, before reportedly being impressed with his rehab work during pre-season - but now it appears their relationship is at an all-time low.
He said: "It's difficult for him to be on the bench. Why? Because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with [Matteo] Darmian, with [Daley] Blind.
"I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition.
"I cannot compare. He is a long way behind."
