Everton star Idrissa Gueye set to sign new five-year contract worth a whopping £75,000-a-week after becoming key man

Midfielder has impressed following move from Aston Villa and Toffees are desperate to tie him down to new terms

IDRISSA GUEYE'S new £4million-a-year deal at Everton is set to get announced.

The Senegal midfielder has been handed improved terms after his first full season at Goodison attracted interest from rivals.

He has now been offered a fresh five-year deal with his wages smashing through the £75,000-a-week barrier.

Despite the club struggling under Ronald Koeman, the club wanted Gueye's future settled since the 28-year-old’s arrived from Aston Villa and emerged as a key player.

He had a buyout clause of £7.1million at Villa which Everton took up, with his value increasing following his performances since.

This time Everton should listen to offers from Champions League clubs, even though it is not written into his contract.

Chelsea were monitoring his situation when they were looking at central midfielders but eventually landed Danny Drinkwater.

And Manchester United have been assessing their central-midfield options as Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini have not agreed new deals.

Meanwhile, Sean Dyche continues to play down links with the Everton hot seat despite admitting he’s “flattered” by the interest.

Burnley boss Dyche said: “It’s other people’s stories, it’s not mine. I’m respectful of all cubs in all situations, but I’m equally respectful of my situation now.”
