Manchester United news: Jose Mourinho using two sport psychologists to help get more from his Old Trafford men
Two of Denmark's most renowned shrinks reveal they recently visited Manchester as the Portuguese boss aims to get every available advantage
JOSE MOURINHO has reportedly turned to two sport psychologists in an effort to get more out of his Manchester United squad.
The Portuguese boss has been less than impressed with his expensively-assembled stars in recent weeks after they lost pace with Premier League leaders Manchester City.
After a goalless draw at Liverpool, United suffered their first defeat of the campaign when they went down 2-1 to newly-promoted Huddersfield last weekend.
And that has led to him starting talks with renowned Danish sport psychologists Carsten Hvid Larsen and Kristoffer Henriksen, according to newspaper BT in their homeland.
The duo are both experts in the field of creating great training environments for elite athletes.
Henriksen and Hvid Larsen have both recently visited Manchester and met with the Red Devils' staff to exchange expertise.
Larsen said: "United is very interested in optimising the club’s training environment, so they can facilitate the transition from talent to elite, and we have just researched it.
"Both in other talented environments, but also in professional football. Therefore, we were visiting to exchange experience, inspire and discuss with each other in terms of optimising their environment.

"It’s very exciting for us to get an insight into a new environment. Manchester United is a huge club internationally.
"It is both interesting research and practicality in terms of gaining insight into how such a big club works.

"We are very happy for their openness, and the intention of both camps is clear that we will work together."
Mourinho appears to be trying to get any advantage he can in a bid to make United champions again.
But he and his side face a tough task to get back to winning ways on Saturday when Tottenham head to Old Trafford for a crunch lunchtime kick off.
However, the Reds were boosted by the news that Spurs will be without their top scorer Harry Kane for the clash through injury.
The striker is out with a hamstring strain he sustained last week against Liverpool.
Both clubs are sitting on 20 points in the Premier League this season, with the game already gearing up to be a real six-pointer.
