Crystal Palace set for £2million payment if Sam Allardyce joins crisis club Everton

CRYSTAL PALACE will reportedly be entitled to a £2million payment from Everton if Sam Allardyce joins the crisis-hit club.

The former England boss quit Selhurst Park in May but has been linked with a move to Merseyside to replace the axed Ronald Koeman.

And the Independent claim that part of Big Sam's severance package included compensation for the club if he takes a job before next July.

The report goes on to say the payment would be in the region of £2million but could reduce after January 1.

And the agreement is said to be similar to Tony Pulis', who left Palace in August 2014 and took over as West Brom boss on January 1 2015.

Allardyce, 63, has become the bookies' favourite for the Everton job, who currently sit in the relegation zone.

Toffees chiefs know Allardyce has a history of getting club's out of sticky situations and are in dire need of turning their season around.

Goodison owner Farhad Moshiri wants another foreign manager, preferably former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti.

But chairman Bill Kenwright is keen on a British appointment.

David Unsworth took over as caretaker boss but got off to a losing start with a loss away to Leicester.

Allardyce has also been linked with the vacant Scotland job after Gordan Strachan resigned.

And the USA national team have also shown an interest in the former West Ham and Bolton boss — and he admits the prospect of moving across the pond is interesting.

Allardyce told BeIN Sports: “I think I would be interested in talking to them if I had the opportunity.

“It’s a fantastic country and it’s been trying to make football more and more successful every year."
