Lovren was hauled off after just half an hour of the game last month as the Reds went 2-0 down in the opening 12 minutes.

Liverpool eventually lost 4-1, but it was the former Southampton centre-back who copped the majority of the flak.

In the aftermath of the defeat, one vile social media user wrote: "I'm gonna murder ur family u Croatian ****."

In retaliation, Lovren publicly replied: "I don't mind when people talk s*** about me, it says more about them!

"But I can not ignore when my family is threatened. I just can't and won't accept that. Disgusting."

Liverpool's famously loyal fans have got behind Lovren after the hideous remarks, voting him in as their Player of the Month for October.

Lovren will share the reward with star performer Mohamed Salah - as both picked up 33 per cent of the public vote.

The Croatian played four times in October for Liverpool, keeping a clean sheet twice, while picking up the Man of the Match award against Manchester United.

Lovren has not played since the Spurs game after injuring himself in the pre-match warm-up for last weekend's clash with Huddersfield.

Meanwhile, Salah played six times last month, scoring four times and assisting on many more as the Reds won three, drew two and lost once in October.

Most recently, the flying Egyptian winger scored in Liverpool's 3-0 win over Maribor in the Champions League, to send them top of their group with two games to play.
