Gareth Southgate insists Ashley Young and Dele Alli will bury hatchet when they meet for England duty
Manchester United and Tottenham pair were involved in heated exchange during Old Trafford clash
GARETH SOUTHGATE says Dele Alli and Ashley Young will put their explosive bust-up behind them when they meet for England duty.
Dele told the in-form Manchester United star he needed “a zimmer frame” during Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford last Saturday.
Young back in the England squad for the first time in four years, responded by saying “come back when you have won the Prem”.
The United star, 32, later tweeted “talk is cheap”, but the pair will now come into direct contact when the squad joins up for prestige games with Germany and Brazil.
Southgate said: “In terms of an on-field confrontation it seemed fairly good natured. They were both smiling, giving each other some verbals, but that has always been part of the game, really. I don’t think it is any big issue.
“We’ve always had players who have played against each other in the lead-up to internationals and you expect them to fight for their club.
“When they come together they are fighting for England. I don’t see it as an issue.”
