Arsenal fan played SUDOKU during 0-0 draw with Red Star Belgrade at the Emirates

Supporter clearly unimpressed with North London snooze-fest as he cracked open his paper and tackled the brain-teaser

IF Arsenal fans were worried about their first-ever Europa League campaign, then Thursday's result did nothing to abate those fears.

Arsene Wenger's Gunners played out a tedious 0-0 draw with Serbian minnows Red Star Belgrade in front of a depleted Emirates crowd.

Arsenal claim around 58,000 people showed up to the game in North London, but in truth, the pictures told a very different story.

The stadium looked half-empty for much of the game as a sea of red seats became clearly visible.

Fortunately for those who opted against the Thursday night outing, the clash was an utter snooze-fest.

One fan appeared to be particularly bored for the European clash... as he cracked open his newspaper to play a little Sudoku.

Visibly unimpressed with Wenger's decision to play kids and reserves, the Gooner looked deep in thought as he perused his paper... rather than keep his eyes on the pitch.

Following the match, Arsenal fan Piers Morgan took to Twitter to vent his frustration... again.

He claimed: "0-0. Loud boos ring out from the few fans who were there.

"Wenger's miserable descent into unwatchable mediocrity continues."

However, one social media user hit back, using the Sudoku star as the sole shining light from the game.

The user tweeted: "I wouldn't say that Piers, this guy seemed to enjoy that game...

"Sudoku > watching Arsenal."

Gunners fans will next get the chance to play Sudoku, or perhaps watch the game if they choose, when they host North London rivals Tottenham on November 18.

Next up for Arsenal though, it's a trip to Manchester City on Sunday.
