Chelsea latest news: N’Golo Kante arrives in his trusted Mini for Blues training ahead of Manchester United Premier League clash

N'GOLO KANTE arrived in his much-loved Mini for Chelsea training on Friday as he faces a race against time to be fit for Sunday's clash with Manchester United.

The French midfielder has missed the last six matches with a hamstring injury, with the Premier League champions only keeping one clean sheet in his absence.

And he now looks set to return for the visit of former Blues boss Jose Mourinho and his Red Devils side this weekend for the crunch Stamford Bridge showdown.

His manager Antonio Conte was not giving too much away on Friday, but said: "He is progressing well.

"We also have tomorrow and then I will take the best decision for him and the team.

"I am very happy to see his progress, we are talking about an important player.

"Honestly, if I wanted to risk him I could have done this against Bournemouth or Roma. Instead I waited – I found a lot of patience to wait for N’Golo.

"If I decide to put him in to start the game, then he will be ready. It would have been wrong to start him against Bournemouth."

Kante and the rest of his Chelsea team-mates arrived at their Cobham HQ this morning still reeling from Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Roma in the Champions League.

However, the ex-Leicester City star's entrance in his modest Mini provided the standout moment among the fleet of flash motors pulling into work.

SunSport revealed earlier this year the reason the 26-year-old loves his current ride so much.

Upon arriving in England with the Foxes in 2015 he did not even own a car, but a friend gave him a second hand five-door Mini Cooper S - which starts at just £20,000 - to help him get from A to B.

He became so attached to the white car, that when the ex-Boulogne and Caen midfielder joined Chelsea in 2016 for £32million, he saw no reason to change in line with his team-mates.

When the Foxes won the most unlikely of titles, Leicester City's Thai chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha spent nearly £2m to buy 19 BMW i8's for the squad.

But Kante had already moved to Stamford Bridge by then, so missed out - not that he would have minded too much.

He previously told the Sunday Times: "Me, I've never been someone who loves a car and when I was young I didn't have the ambition of a car or something like that.

"But my Mini, for the beginning, was good to learn to drive on the left. I got it in Leicester. And I still have it now. But it's good."
