Wilshere, 25 is in the final year of his £90,000-a-week deal in North London, and so far there a no planned talks about extending his stay.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has revealed the academy graduate’s situation will be looked at before the end of the year.

Wenger said: “Jack’s situation will be decided in December. I want to give him the first six months of the season not to think about that and then see where we go from there.

“We need to clear things up before the transfer window arrives. At the moment Jack is a little bit in conflict with Mesut Ozil in the position he plays. But ideally we want to keep both of them.”

The Spaniards, managed by Quique Setien are keen to add Wilshere to their ranks and will hope the offer of a fresh start in a new country will appeal to the England international.

Betis could push for a cut-price deal in January if talks between Wilshere and Arsenal don’t happen or reach a stalemate.

Another option would be to convince him to sign a pre-contract in January when players are a free to talk to overseas clubs in the final six months of their deal.

Beticos have enjoyed a good start to the campaign and are eighth in La Liga, with Wilshere’s team-mate Joel Campbell currently on loan at the Benito Villamarin stadium.

Wilshere is fully fit and desperate to force his way back into Wenger’s plans, but has only seen 13 minutes of Premier League action this term.

The midfielder’s game time has been restricted to the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

Wenger will not want to deal with another contract stand-off among his squad with Alexis Sanchez looking certain to leave in Janury or for nothing next summer to Manchester City.

And Mesut Ozil, who is a free agent next summer, is another player yet to commit his long term future to Arsenal.
