Jose Mourinho is ‘demanding £3million-a-year pay rise’ at Manchester United with talks between Jorge Mendes and Ed Woodward planned for New Year
Self-proclaimed Special One won EFL Cup and Europa League during first season at Old Trafford — and could add more
JOSE MOURINHO is demanding a £3million pay rise at Manchester United, according to reports.
The self-proclaimed Special One has been at Old Trafford for nearly one-and-a-half seasons — winning three trophies in that time.
Despite criticism over his style of play, the Red Devils are still in the running in four competitions in this campaign.
And The Mirror report Mourinho believes he deserves a 25 per cent pay rise on his £12m-a-year salary at United — with talks planned between agent Jorge Mendes and Ed Woodward planned for New Year.
The Red Devils are currently five points behind Manchester City in second place — and need just a point to ensure qualification to the knock-out phase of the Champions League.
That would mean extra money for the club, of which Mourinho wants a slice.
United only qualified for the Champions League because of last season's victory in the Europa League.
But it meant they hit their performance targets with main sponsors Adidas and Chevrolet.
In September, they announced an incredible turnover of £581.2m — with a profit of £80.8m.
Victory in the Europa League ensured a £53.7m in increase to the £194.7m TV money.
