Former West Ham defender Alvaro Arbeloa takes swipe at sacked boss Slaven Bilic
Ex-Real Madrid man took to Twitter to claim it was 'better late than never' after he learnt of Bilic's dismissal
FORMER West Ham defender Alvaro Arbeloa has taken a sensational swipe at old boss Slaven Bilic.
The Croat was given the axe on Monday with the Hammers languishing in the bottom three after 11 matches.
But the Spanish defender had no sympathy for the manager who offered him a contract after leaving Real Madrid.
In a tweet confirming Bilic had been sacked, Arbeloa responded: "Better late than never."
It is believed the player and manager had a major falling out shortly after Arbeloa joined the club.
The 34-year-old reportedly flew into a challenge on a fringe player during training leaving Bilic fuming.
Bilic told Arbeloa to calm down before the player started arguing back, claiming how he had won a host of major trophies including the Champions League.
The player was never picked again with the likes of Chiekhou Kouyate and Michail Antonio picked ahead of him.

Arbeloa ended up leaving the London Stadium with just three first-team appearances to his name before calling time on his career.
And fans hit back at Arbeloa with one supporter claiming "Danilo has outdone your legacy at Madrid."
Another said: "You were useless and washed last season Alvaro. Possibly the worst World Cup/Champions League winner of all time."
Others were quick to comment that he was nicknamed "the cone" at Madrid.
A West Ham fan said: "Your nickname is literally 'the cone'. Pipe down."
