Manchester United transfer news: Jose Mourinho ‘seriously considering’ selling David De Gea to Real Madrid in return for Raphael Varane
The Bernabeu giants could finally get their man next summer according to reports, but only if French star is part of the deal
JOSE MOURINHO is reported to be “seriously considering” selling David De Gea to Real Madrid if he gets Raphael Varane.
The goalkeeper has been a long-term target for the Galacticos and remains top of Bernabeu president Florentino Perez’s wish list.
De Gea almost completed his move to the Spanish giants back in 2015 but for a faulty fax machine to scupper the deal.
However, Don Balon claims that Madrid could finally get their man next summer as the Red Devils are believed to be coming round to the idea of letting their No1 depart.
But the report insists that Mourinho will only be willing to do business if he can get defender Varane in return for the 26-year-old stopper.
The United boss knows the France star well from his time managing in the Spanish capital and signed him from Lens back in 2011.
Varane, 24, has since gone on to establish himself as one of the best centre-backs on the planet for both club and country.
Despite that, United would still want a hefty financial package to sanction the departure of De Gea along with the player.

And that could put off Madrid, who are determined to keep hold of their star.
De Gea has been in outstanding form again for United so far this season and has kept eight Premier League clean sheets – three more than any other goalie in the top-flight.

Varane has endured a rather difficult start to the campaign.
Minor injury issues have restricted him to just six appearances so far in Madrid’s dreadful start to their title defence.
They are already eight points behind rivals and current leaders Barcelona after just 11 matches.
