He explained: "I came here to give me a break from my club because it was a bit stressful for me there seeing the same faces every day, the same four walls, the same gym.

"But I came here and worked and then went back. Once I was back training, I fell in love with football again.

"I thought I'd be out for a couple of weeks, but weeks turned to months and I really didn't see myself playing again any time soon.

"It was only two months ago that I was doing some rehab and I lost my appetite for wanting to get back fit because I didn't think it was ever going to happen.

"I am looking to use anything I can now in the future to help me improve on and off the field.

"Last season I was doing well, I felt untouchable, I felt like I was one of the best. I felt that if I carried on with that form, anything could have happened.

"Then the injury happened. It humbled me, it brought me back down to Earth, it gave me a reality check. It just made me realise that football can be taken away from you at any given point.”

Asked what it has been like watching Spurs from the stands, Rose told talkSPORT: "I have been impressed, jealous, angry - I have been through a whole load of emotions over the past nine months, not just the season.

"I've just been itching to get going for the past couple of weeks and I'm just grateful that I'm back in amongst it now."
