LYON are ready to renew their interest in Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala in January.
And Pep Guardiola could use their interest to launch a bid of his own for the French club's highly-rated young defender Mouctar Diakhaby.
Lyon made an enquiry over the availability of the £32million centre back during the summer window.
Pep was unwilling to sanction a deal until he found a replacement - but his move for Jonny Evans fell through.

City had the centre-back Diakhaby, 20, watched in a recent Europa League clash with Everton but he is also being monitored by other clubs including Chelsea.
How Kompany comes back from his latest calf problem is likely to hold the key to how hard Pep pursues defensive reinforcements when the transfer window re-opens.
The Belgian has missed two months after his latest setback occurred while on international duty in early September.
