Manchester United sign ‘new Angel Di Maria’ Umaro Embalo, from Portuguese giants Benfica
Jose Mourinho has signed 16-year-old forward for the youth ranks after surprising "everyone and everything" in Portugal
MANCHESTER UNITED have signed 16-year-old Umaro Embalo, dubbed the "new Angel Di Maria" from Portuguese giants Benfica.
Jose Mourinho will bring the Guinea-Bissau-born youngster to Old Trafford after the star "surprised everyone and everything" in Portugal.
Embalo has been on United's radar for the best part of a year now, with the club failing in a £4million bid in the summer.
Real Madrid had also been hunting the star - with reports suggesting they bid around £9m for his services.
At this point, no word on how much United shelled out on Embalo has emerged.
Portuguese duo Mourinho and his agent Jorge Mendes are thought to have played a major role in convincing Embalo to continue his progression in England.
Embalo only arrived in Portugal in 2014 at a holiday camp arranged by Benfica for Guinean youngsters.
He impressed so much, he snared a spot at AD Oeiras, where he spent a season prior to being brough to Primeira Liga giants Benfica.

Much like Paris Saint-Germain star Di Maria, Embalo is left-footed and primarily plays on the right wing, cutting inside and tormenting defences.
He has already scored five times in just 12 games for Benfica's youth team this season.
