Swansea replace Claude Makelele with club legend Leon Britton as player-assistant coach
SWANSEA have announced Leon Britton will replace Claude Makelele.
Britton, 35, who has played more than 500 games for the south Wales side, will fill the vacancy left by Makelele, who was named manager of Belgian side KAS Eupen.
Britton will serve a dual role as player-assistant coach.
A new club captain will be named in his place, the club announced.
Britton is studying for his UEFA A coaching licence and will form part of boss Paul Clement's coaching team.
Clement told the club website: "I am delighted that Leon has agreed to take on the role as player-assistant coach.

"Similarly, on a matchday, if he's in the squad then his focus is on playing.
"If not, then he will be in the dugout as part of the coaching staff."
