Jurgen Klopp forced to miss Liverpool training for hospital visit after falling unwell
German is set to be released but may require further check-ups in the coming days before his side face Southampton
JURGEN KLOPP was forced to miss Liverpool training today after falling ill overnight and being taken to hospital.
The Kop boss is being assessed by doctors but there are no plans for the German to remain in hospital beyond his appointment and he is expected to return home this evening.
Klopp was taken to hospital after telling the club’s medical staff he was feeling unwell.
The backroom team insisted the boss had further tests after learning the manager had started to feel unwell over Tuesday night.
The 50-year-old was self-admitted to a Liverpool hospital but is expected to be discharged this evening.
The details are yet to be revealed but no surgery has been required and the manager is reported to be feeling much better.
In February Klopp was in the dugout for Liverpool’s clash with West Ham just days after an appendix operation.
The bullish manager discharged himself from hospital despite being expected to remain under observation in time for the cup clash.

That came after he was forced to watch his side surrender a two-goal lead against Sunderland from his hospital bed.
Klopp will hope to be fully recovered before Liverpool face Southampton at home at 3pm this Saturday.
A statement on the Liverpool website read: "Jurgen Klopp has attended a hospital appointment today as a precautionary measure, after feeling ill.
"He is being assessed by doctors and will be absent from training on Wednesday as a result.
"There are currently no plans for Jurgen to remain in hospital beyond his appointment and he will therefore return home this evening; however, he may require further check-ups in the coming days.
"The club urges that the privacy of Jurgen, his family and other patients is respected while attending hospital visits."
