The German gaffer had complained of feeling ill after a charity trip to South Africa.

However, after scans at a city centre hospital, he was allowed home after they confirmed there were no serious problems.

Although the Mirror claim that Klopp will have follow-up appointments to monitor his health.

The Anfield giants quickly moved to ease fears over their boss and said it was just a precautionary measure.

"There are currently no plans for Jurgen to remain in hospital beyond his appointment and he will therefore return home this evening; however, he may require further check-ups in the coming days."

The Mirror went on to claim that club officials later confirmed the matter was not serious as tests showing a positive diagnosis.

It is believed to just be a minor ailment caused by the travel to the Southern Hemisphere, with the change in climate leading to infections and coughing.

Klopp is expected to attend the pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Liverpool's clash with Southampton on Saturday.

He visited Cape Town to attend a charity event at Hout Bay University Community.

This is not the first time that Klopp has suffered a health scare since moving to Anfield.

The 50-year-old suffered appendicitis back in February 2016 and was forced to miss a match against Sunderland.
