Marcus Tavernier wanted by Arsenal and Everton as race to sign talented Middlesbrough prodigy heats up
Youngster has put in some impressive performances recently, including scoring a late winner against Sunderland this month
MARCUS TAVERNIER is reportedly being chased by Arsenal and Everton.
The talented Middlesbrough youngster wowed spectators with his performances for England’s Under-19s in the recent international break.
But Tavernier could now be set for a move to the Premier League just weeks after becoming a regular at the Riverside.
The Daily Mail claims Arsenal and Everton both want to add the 18-year-old to their ranks in January.
Both teams are said to have scouted Tavernier recently, and are sure to have been impressed by his late winner against Sunderland at the start of the month.
Tavernier’s contract expires next summer, and a number of teams feel he could improve their youth ranks immediately.

Arsenal and Everton are leading the race for his signature, although neither would be able to guarantee him regular senior football at this stage.
There is also strong interest from struggling Bournemouth, while Boro’s Championship rivals Aston Villa are also keeping tabs.

However, Garry Monk is desperate to keep hold of Tavernier and has one trick up his sleeve.
The player has a one-year automatic extension clause in his dwindling contract, and Boro are expected to trigger it to strengthen their position.
