RYAN SHAWCROSS admitted Brighton should have had a penalty for his hack at Glenn Murray.
The Stoke centre-half sent Albion striker Murray crashing to the ground after 39 minutes.
But hapless ref Lee Mason ignored the penalty appeals and gave Stoke a free-kick as Murray had grabbed hold of the ball after being floored.
Shawcross said: “I clipped him but the ref’s probably not got the best of angles. But it probably was a penalty.”
Hitman Murray said: “It’s one of those things and hopefully throughout the course of the season it will even itself out.”
Even Stoke's official Twitter account posted: "39' Shawcross incredibly lucky!
"Lee Mason gives a free-kick, but in all honesty it looked a penalty (0-1) #SCFC."
Both players were asked whether they think video refs should be brought in to make those decisions.
Shawcross smiled: “I think football is great the way it is.”
While Murray admitted: “I would have liked it tonight.”
Fans were quick to reply their opinions, praising the post, as one supporter said: "Well at least the admin is honest."
While another fan tweeted: "Fantastic post. I have moaned most of the weekend that supporters/managers never admit they are lucky with decisions. Faith restored!"
As another person replied by saying: "Will be amazed if Mark Hughes is as honest as you in the post match TV interview."
While one Stoke fan simply said: "Agreed. Good honesty and impartiality."
The 2011 FA Cup runners-up were 1-0 up at the time of the incident, but managed to get back on level terms in the 44th minute through Pascal Gross.
But just two minutes later Stoke restored their lead through Kurt Zouma, who headed home into an empty net.
However Brighton once again equalised, as Colombian winger Jose Izquierdo lashed the ball past Lee Grant in the 60th minute.
