Albero Moreno endures nightmare on return to Sevilla as boss Jurgen Klopp hooks him off

ALBERTO MORENO endured a nightmare on his return to former club Sevilla.

Fans from the Spanish side were reminded exactly why they flogged the left-back to Liverpool in a £12million deal in 2014.

The 25-year-old was hooked off by manager Jurgen Klopp just moments after gifting Sevilla a way back into their stunning Champions League 3-3 draw.

With the Reds 3-0 ahead following a blistering first half, Moreno conceded a stupid free-kick in a dangerous area on 50 minutes which Sevilla took full advantage from.

And then it was a back to the walls job as Liverpool clung on to their two-goal advantage.

But two goals quickly became one when Moreno was sluggish in clearing the ball under pressure.

His mis-control proved costly as Wissam Ben Yeder was quick to nip the ball away from his feet and then fall to the ground in the box following Moreno's lazy tackle.

The referee pointed to the spot and Ben Yedder grabbed his second of the night.

Klopp then decided enough was enough and opted to replace him with James Milner.

And BT Sport pundit Frank Lampard didn't hold back after the game by saying: "For me it's all on Moreno.

"It changed the whole game - Klopp will be so disappointed with him tonight."

Sevilla's comeback was complete in the 93rd minute when Guido Pizarro pounced on more slack defending to send the home support into raptures.

Fellow BT pundit Rio Ferdinand was also heavily critical of Liverpool's defending claiming every goal could have been prevented.

He said: "Every goal could have been prevented, the penalty from Moreno, the free-kick from Moreno and Klavan's header... he could have headed it out in the other direction.

"These are a crucial couple of days to really lift this squad up and try and take some positives from this.

"But this Liverpool team don't know how to defend. You've got to be able to sit back and soak up the pressure and they can't."

Moreno was on the verge of winning back the faith of his manager and supporters but he will feel he has taken a giant leap backwards after his latest performance.

Liverpool still went through despite throwing away two points and will look ahead to the round of 16.
