Ben Wilmot wanted by Liverpool and Tottenham as Stevenage youngster is monitored by Premier League duo
18-year-old defender was scouted by numerous teams during a recent Checkatrade Trophy clash and received glowing reports
LIVERPOOL and Tottenham are reportedly monitoring Stevenage prodigy Ben Wilmot.
The 18-year-old defender is wanted by a number of Premier League clubs, according to the Daily Mail.
But it’s Liverpool and Spurs who are said to be leading the race for his coveted signature.
Wilmot was apparently scouted by up to 30 analysts from top-flight teams during his side’s Checkatrade Trophy clash against Brighton’s U21s a fortnight ago.
He played the whole match and is believed to have garnered glowing reports from those in attendance.
Wilmot only signed his first professional contract with Stevenage in April this year following a steady rise through their academy.

But his manager has been full of praise for the youngster, who is yet to make an appearance in League Two this season.
Darren Sarrl gushed: “He plays like a 30-year-old, he’s got a wonderful, mature outlook on the game.”

Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino are both known to be fans of blooding youngsters in their senior squads.
Both managers have handed chances to numerous whizkids during their time in England, and Wilmot may feel like the time is right to join one of the country’s elite sides.
