Chelsea news: Star Thibaut Courtois ‘wants £210,000-a-week to sign new Blues deal’ amid Real Madrid interest

THIBAUT COURTOIS reportedly wants to become the Premier League's best-paid goalkeeper to commit his future to Chelsea.

The Belgian is out of contract in 2019 and has so far failed to agree terms on a new extension.

And Het Laatste Nieuws in his homeland are claiming that he wants £210,000-a-week to sign a new deal with the Blues.

That would take him above Manchester United's David de Gea as the highest-earner No1 in England.

Courtois, 25, is wanted by a host of Europe's big guns as the champions fight to try and keep him at Stamford Bridge.

Real Madrid have been long-term admirers and are believed to be readying a move for the stopper next summer.

Big-spending French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Serie A kings Juventus are also monitoring Courtois' situation.

As SunSport reported yesterday, the star and his representatives have decided to put contract talks with Chelsea on hold until the new year.

And that will only add further uncertainty over his future amid the interest in him.

He was long been linked with a move away from West London, but he claims his decision to postpone extension talks is purely based on the fact he wants to concentrate on the busy upcoming hectic schedule.

Courtois said: "Regarding my contract, that's the thing where Chelsea must deal with my agent (Christophe Henrotay).

"I don't think there have been any new developments.

"We have so many games at the moment, and I prefer to focus on the team's games, my own performances, and there will be time enough towards the end of the season to have talks."

Courtois joined Chelsea in 2011 but immediately joined Atletico Madrid on loan for three seasons and won the La Liga title in 2014.

He returned to England and ousted Petr Cech from the first team in 2014.

Since then he has firmly established himself as the Blues' No1 and as one of the best keepers on the planet.
