Roberto Firmino has been the go-to man for Klopp since he took over from Brendan Rodgers in 2015.

And the Italian giants are keen to bolster their attacking options as they struggle this season.

Despite a £160million overhaul of the squad aided by the new owner Yonghong Li to challenge Juventus and Napoli, Milan are seventh in the league.

Former Liverpool playmaker Suso is club’s top scorer in the league with just five goals.

Sturridge has only featured once for England in 2017, and has half a season to win his place back in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions set up ahead of next summer’s World Cup in Russia.

The former Chelsea hitman is likely to have other options closer to home if he pushed for a move in January.

West Ham, Newcastle and Everton have all been linked with a move for Sturridge in recent months.
