Manchester United ready to reward in-form Ashley Young with 12-month contract extension
32-year-old has become Jose Mourinho's first choice left-back and has hit form at the perfect time with the World Cup next summer
MANCHESTER UNITED are set to reward in-form Ashley Young with a new 12-month contract extension.
The 32-year-old rolled back the years at Watford with two goals, including a sensational free-kick, in United's 4-2 victory.
After eight Premier League starts in the whole of last season, he has already started 10 this campaign and continues to prove his worth to boss Jose Mourinho.
Young has attracted interest from the Chinese Super League and turned down a stunning £12million-a-year offer to remain at the Red Devils.
And with speculation that Shandong Luneng are set to renew their interest in January, United want to tie Young down for 12 more months.
According to the Daily Mail, Young currently pockets £120,000-a-week at Old Trafford and despite his willingness to stay at United, he wants an extra two years added to his contract.
His current deal expires next summer meaning Young can talk to foreign clubs and agree to a free transfer if United don't trigger his contract extension.

With the prospect of losing outcast and fellow left-back Luke Shaw in January, Mourinho will want to get the extension sorted sooner rather than later.
Young is now ahead of Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Shaw in the pecking order.
And his form even earned himself a recall to the England set-up in their recent friendlies.
