David De Gea amazingly voted as just SEVENTH best goalkeeper in the world

Manchester United keeper is widely regarded as best keeper in Prem – but finished behind Thibaut Courtois and Hugo Lloris in France Football vote

DAVID DE GEA has been voted as just the SEVENTH best keeper in the world.

France Football got five former keepers together and devised a points system based on the Ballon d'Or vote.

But Manchester United keeper De Gea, who stunned Arsenal with 14 saves on Saturday, found himself ranked below Prem stoppers Thibaut Courtois and Hugo Lloris.

Former internationals Santiago Canizares, Lionel Letizi, Sepp Maier, Mark Schwarzer and Francesco Toldo were the men making their choices.

Six points were awarded for first place, four points for second place, three points for third place, two points for fourth place and one point for fifth place.

Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer came out on top after being voted the best by all five men.

Juventus' Gianluigi Buffon came in second, a mega 17 points back, w ith Chelsea's Courtois in third with nine points.

Spurs keeper Lloris and Atletico's Jan Oblak were tied on seven points in fourth place.

And Real Madrid's Keylor Navas  had a point more than De Gea's four.

Valencia legend Canizares picked De Gea as his fifth choice, while ex-Fiorentina and Inter Milan keeper Toldo had the Spaniard in third place.

De Gea's record-equalling display against Arsenal left him feeling "unbeatable".

United's No 1 was beaten only by a short-range strike from Lacazette in the second half of the 3-1 win at the Emirates.

DDG, 27, said: "Sometimes you start a game with a really good save, with a good feeling, you feel unbeatable but we started the game really well, we scored two important goals.

"It's true we lost a bit of control of the game after that but it was a good performance."

De Gea's tally is tied with Newcastle's Tim Krul and Vito Mannone of Sunderland for the most in a Premier League game since Opta started recording that data in 2003-04.

Dream Team Star Man De Gea also had to make a save from team-mate Romelu Lukaku.

He said: "Yes, he nearly scored an own goal!

"But I saved that ball and after that, he did a really good job

"It was a brilliant performance from the team, defensively, and on the counter-attack we killed them, so we're really happy with three points."
