Chelsea legend Frank Lampard slams Tiemoue Bakayoko for Atletico Madrid clanger

Frenchman failed to mark Saul Niguez for visitors' only goal of the game - and Blues now face horror last-16 clash

FRANK LAMPARD has urged Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko to "wake up".

The Frenchman was at fault for Atletico Madrid's goal in last night's 1-1 draw after failing to mark scorer Saul Niguez.

Victory for the Blues would have seen them top the group but Antonio Conte's men now face a horror last-16 draw against Lionel Messi's Barcelona or Neymar's Paris Saint-Germain.

Lampard told BT Sport: "He sleeps. His concentration goes and at this level if you sleep for a second and it's an easy goal for Atletico.

"A moment's sleeping today doesn't work so he needs to improve but he's [Antonio Conte] got options. [Danny] Drinkwater will play as well but hopefully Bakayoko will improve."

Lampard, 39, and his former Chelsea team-mates overcame Barcelona in the semi-finals and Bayern Munich in the final to win the Champions League in 2012.

Antonio Conte says Chelsea must improve after Champions League draw with Atletico Madrid

He has encouraged Conte's squad to play without fear should they be matched against a European powerhouse.

He said: "Obviously PSG, we're all talking about them and Barcelona, we all know what they have to offer.

"Chelsea fans will realistically look at Besiktas but it's a draw so who knows and again who knows where all these different teams are.

"Even if Chelsea do draw one of the bigger teams then what a game and if you're going to win this competition you have to beat the big boys."

One player not worried about the test is Stamford Bridge ace Eden Hazard.

The Belgium superstar, 26, said: "It is not a problem, we are Chelsea. We are a top team so we can face anyone.

"We know PSG and Barcelona are very good but we are Chelsea. We have to be ready for anything."
