Manchester City use Oasis as inspiration as they make history with Premier League record-breaking 15-game win run
PEP GUARDIOLA popped open the Champagne Supernova as Oasis inspired City to rewrite football's record brooks.
Boss Guardiola, whose team played the Manchester band's music loudly before the game, said: “It means a lot. To be the first team in the history of English football to make 15 wins in a row, at this level where it’s so competitive, with the managers, players and analysts who know everything about all teams.
“I am so happy. In history there have been some amazing teams, Liverpool, United with Sir Alex Ferguson, Chelsea with Jose Mourinho – a lot of good, good teams and we are the first ones to win 15 games in a row. Of course that will not make sense if we do not win the title. If we don’t win the title, it will just be a record."
City were involved in a bust-up with Manchester United’s players and boss Mourinho due to the way they celebrated their 2-1 win at Old Trafford on Sunday.
But there were no problems last night and Guardiola added: “I think it was really good, especially after the Old Trafford game.

Everybody wants to play because they have fun, playing football. When they don’t have the ball they go to win the ball like animals, in good terms. We understand to attack the spaces in the right moment.

Swansea boss Paul Clement, who could hear the din as he spoke at his post-match press conference, joked: “They need to turn it down, don’t they?”
After the four-goal thrashing, Clement added: “It wasn’t nice to see that, but if you’re a Manchester City supporter it must be a pleasure. To be on the receiving end of that was very difficult. We knew it was going to be a difficult night but I would say they are one of the best sides I have ever come across. They do the basics, the ugly side of the game; they make it really hard for you. It was a comfortable victory for them.
"I thought we became very passive, showing too much respect – we were not aggressive enough."
