FA demands answers to Jose Mourinho’s comments on Manchester City before fiery derby clash
Manchester United boss stoked the fire when he claimed Pep Guardiola's side fall to the ground too easily
JOSE MOURINHO has been asked by the FA to provide observations in relation to comments made before the Manchester derby last weekend.
The Portuguese boss added fuel to the fire by suggesting Manchester City players are serial divers and Pep Guardiola receives preferential treatment from Uefa.
Before the fiery derby, where Mourinho was involved in a huge tunnel bust-up after the game, he said of City's stars: "A little bit of wind and they fall."
The Portuguese also questioned why Uefa have not disciplined Guardiola for wearing a yellow ribbon in support of those fighting for independence in his native Catalonia in Spain.
Uefa have tried to be strict on political messages worn by players and managers and even tried to ban the poppy.
But it appears the FA have not taken well to Mourinho's outburst and have released a statement of their own.
It read: "The FA has requested observations from Jose Mourinho for pre-match media comments he made on Friday 8 December, prior to last Sunday’s match against Manchester City.
"He has until 6pm on Monday 18 December to respond."
United ended up losing the match 2-1 but tempers boiled over after the match.
