Arsenal transfer news: Arsene Wenger reveals he will talk to Jack Wilshere about a new contract before the year is out

ARSENE WENGER has revealed he will talk to Jack Wilshere at the end of the month over a new contract.

The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and speculation is growing that his future lies away from the Emirates.

But in a huge boost to Wilshere, and the Gunners fans, Wenger has admitted he sees Wilshere as having a future at the club.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Gunners' home clash against Newcastle, Wenger said: "I will talk to him at the end of December but I wanted to see how much he can contribute and how he will last physically.

"For him to be happy here is important and I consider him an Arsenal man."

But the man himself is uncertain of what the future holds."

SunSport reported how the England man is not sure he will be wearing the red and white of Arsenal next season.

The midfielder made his first Premier League start on Wednesday night against West Ham in a sign that he is slowly coming back into favour with boss Arsene Wenger.

But Wilshere’s contract expires at the end of this season and even though Wenger has promised to resolve the issue there are still no talks planned to discuss a new deal.

Wilshere, 25, said: “There’s not really a date in the diary. I’ve only read what he's said in the media.

"I’ve just played my first game in the Premier League, I’m concentrating on staying fit and staying in this team.

“That will look after itself. When it’s the right time to talk about it, I’m sure the boss will call me and we’ll have a chat.”
