He said: "If possible, I would like to retire here, but it does not depend on me, because I'm not the boss of the club. We'll see."

When asked about Ronaldo's future Madrid boss Zidane said: "For us, it is fundamental that Cristiano stays all his life.

"He is in his club, in his house and what he has done, no one else is going to do it. So I hope he continues like this until his retirement."

Zidane, who has impressed in his first two years as Madrid coach, clearly wishes for Ronaldo to stay in the capital.

It remains to be seen whether the forward will stay at Madrid, but this will certainly be a blow to the Manchester United faithful who wished to see him return to Old Trafford.
