Manchester United fear Ashley Young is facing burnout with Jose Mourinho set to hand him Christmas period rest

MANCHESTER UNITED fear Ashley Young is at risk of being burnt out and are set to give him a Christmas period rest.
The England winger has been an ever-present under Jose Mourinho since missing the start of the season through injury.
He was dropped to the bench during United’s win against Bournemouth last week, but played at West Brom yesterday.
The Red Devils conditioning staff have been reviewing his fitness data ahead of the busy festive run.
And the 32-year-old is set to be handed a break with United facing six gruelling games in the space of just 17 days.
An Old Trafford source said: “The club are concerned Ashley is risking a bit of burnout and are treading carefully.
“He has had a small rest, but not enough. He has played so many games this season and has been fantastic.
“The conditioning staff have seen the data and want to preserve his ageing legs coming into the busy period.
“He has a history of niggles and that is another reason why the backroom staff are being cautious.”

Manchester United are also eyeing a January deal for Tottenham star Danny Rose to help give Mourinho more left-sided options.
Young has made 16 appearances for United so far this season and scored twice – both stunners away at Watford.
He joined them for £15m from Aston Villa in 2011, and has gone on to play 134 times in the Premier League.
