Manchester United flop Matteo Darmian wanted by Napoli in January transfer move
Defender has fallen out of Jose Mourinho's plans and could be replaced by either Danny Rose or Alex Sandro
MATTEO DARMIAN is reportedly closing in on a January move to Napoli.
The Mirror claims Manchester United will sell their dud defender when the transfer window opens next month.
Darmian, 28, signed for the Red Devils in July 2015 from Torino for just under £13million.
He made 28 Premier League appearances in his maiden season but managed just 18 the year after.
Darmian is now well and truly out of the first-team picture under Jose Mourinho, appearing just four times in the current league campaign.
And he could now be set for a return to Italy following a series of enquiries from Serie A title hopefuls Napoli.

United are apparently more than happy to offload Darmian in order to free up room in their squad for a new left-back.
Mourinho is said to be keen on a deal for Tottenham ace Danny Rose.

But Mauricio Pochettino does not want to sell to a direct rival, despite allowing Kyle Walker to join Manchester City last summer.
Juventus’ £60m-rated Brazilian Alex Sandro is another option, although he is believed to closing in on a move to Chelsea.
