Late kick-off

Why does Leicester vs Man United kick-off at 7.45pm on Saturday night?

The Premier League faced a backlash after originally staging matches on Christmas Eve

LEICESTER are hoping to bounce back from two consecutive defeats as they welcome Manchester United to the King Power Stadium.

Both sides were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in midweek with the Foxes losing to Premier League leaders Manchester City on penalties and United losing to Championship side Bristol City due to an injury-time goal.

Why is the kick-off at 7.45pm?

WHEN the Premier League fixtures were announced, the Leicester vs Manchester United match was originally to be held on Christmas Eve.

The game would be part of a Sky Sports "Super Sunday" special but the decision was met with a lot of backlash.

A decision was made to change the match to Saturday, December 23 and hold it as an evening kick-off instead after BT Sports' coverage of Burnley vs Tottenham.

Which other games were moved to avoid Christmas Eve fixtures?

Liverpool's trip to Arsenal will now be played as the evening kick-off on Friday, December 22 after this game had been originally put as the 4pm kick-off on Christmas Eve.

Three other fixtures, including the Leicester game were changed.

Everton vs Chelsea will be the lunch time start on Saturday and Burnley vs Tottenham will kick-off at 5.30pm.
