Celtic deny club have accepted £18million Moussa Dembele bid from Brighton

Reports claimed the Hoops reached an agreement with the English Premier League outfit for the France U-21 striker

CELTIC have shot down reports the club has accepted a Brighton bid for Moussa Dembele.

Sky Sports Scotland claimed a fee of £18million had been reached for the France U-21 star who joined the Hoops last summer from Fulham.

But SunSport Online understands the English Premier League outfit have NOT made an offer for Dembele, 21.

Senior Parkhead sources are surprised at the Christmas Day reports and dismissed them as “nonsense”.

Dembele bagged 32 goals for the Hoops – including a hat-trick on his Old Firm debut against Rangers – last season as they secured a record-breaking treble.

That form saw him attract attention from some of Europe’s top clubs.

Brighton’s apparent interest emerged earlier this month and last week Seagulls boss Chris Hughton was asked about the possibility of a move for Dembele.

He said: “He’s a very good player and has had a very good season.

“He’s just one of about a hundred names you could mention, but he’s not our player.”
