Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Eboue offered job by Galatasaray after admitting he considered suicide

Ex-Gunners defender has been left broke following bitter divorce but Turkish club have stepped forward in an attempt to help him piece his life back together

EMMANUEL EBOUE has been handed a lifeline by Galatasaray after the former Arsenal star revealed he had contemplated suicide having fallen on tough times.

Eboue has admitted he was on the brink of trying to take his own life following a bitter divorce battle that has left him broke.

The ex-Gunners defender is now broke and unable to see his children as a result of the case and financial mismanagement throughout his career.

But now he is being handed the chance to get his life back on track by Turkish giants Galatasaray - where he spent five years playing after he left North London.

Manager Fatih Terim has moved quickly to help the full-back after news of his plight broke on Christmas Eve.

Terim said: "We heard news about Eboue in the dressing room, I was informed there.

Ivory Coast international Eboue earned millions throughout his career, playing in a Champions League final during his time with the Gunners.

He was paid £1.5million-a-year when he moved to Turkey, and lived in big houses with a fleet of luxury motors.

But his wealth has disappeared in the wake of a bitter divorce from wife Auriele, who has been awarded all of the couple's assets, and the player is now dodging police and bailiffs.

News that Galatasaray are willing to help by appointing him coach of their under-14s side has been well received by the 34-year-old.

Eboue said: "I would be very happy if Fatih gave me the duty with Galatasaray.

"Fatih Terim is my father, I love him very much, I do everything for him because I love him very much."

Arsenal have yet to make a public comment about the difficulties suffered by their former player, who spent seven years playing for the club before leaving in 2011.
