Burnley offer new contract to Scott Arfield amid rumours of West Ham interest
David Moyes was believed to have eyed the midfielder in a £3million swoop, so the Clarets have acted swiftly
BURNLEY have offered a new contract with midfielder Scott Arfield amid interest from West Ham.
SunSport reported yesterday how the Hammers were poised to offer £3million for the Canadian, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
But Clarets boss Sean Dyche confirmed in his press conference that the club have offered a new deal to their 29-year-old player.
Moyes wanted the Canada international during his time at Sunderland and failed to get him to the Stadium of Light.
He wants players with Premier League experience and Arfield’s expiring deal means a deal will not break the bank.
The ex-Huddersfield midfielder has started Burnley’s last seven Prem games but has still not signed a deal to keep him at Burnley beyond the end of the season.
Sean Dyche has also signed wide-man Georges Kevin-Nkoudou to add to his ranks for the second half of the season.
Another midfielder targetted by Moyes to bolster the Hammers' ranks is Harry Arter - but Bournemouth were believed to be angry at a £5million bid received.

And boss Eddie Howe has needed to sit down the Republic of Ireland cap to explain his decision and ask him to stay at the club.
David Moyes wants Arter, but his money men have made a feeble attempt to force the Cherries to sell their long-serving star.
