ARSENAL fans reeling from their defeat at Bournmouth were handed a silver lining as Liverpool ended Manchester City's unbeaten run.

Trailing 4-1 with time running out, City struck twice to set up a tense finish.

And Sergio Aguero headed into the side netting to almost complete a remarkable comeback, although the Argie striker was flagged offside.

The fact Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain played a huge role with a goal and assists was not lost on the gleeful Gunners.

While some criticised Wenger for letting the England international go, others jokingly quipped that the Frenchman had planned for this all along.

After the game, former Arsenal ace Oxlade-Chamberlain told Sky Sports: “Obviously it’s a nice statement for us because they’ve been brilliant all year.

"They’re a fantastic side. We knew we had it in us if we were 100 per cent at the races.
