Jurgen Klopp becomes first boss to beat Pep Guardiola on six different occasions

Liverpool's emphatic 4-3 victory over Manchester City at Anfield was a personal milestone for the German boss

JURGEN KLOPP became the first manager to beat Pep Guardiola on six different occasions after Liverpool's emphatic win.

The Reds clung on to inflict Manchester City's first defeat of the season in a 4-3 thriller at Anfield.

Not only did Liverpool send a statement to the rest of the Premier League, boss Klopp is celebrating his own success in the victory.

No other manager in Europe has beaten the ex-Barca boss six times which started when the pair were managing in the Bundesliga.

Klopp emerged victorious in their first meeting when the two sides met in the German Super Cup.

Klopp's side stunned the champions at the Allianz Arena when Dortmund rolled into town.

Current Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan opened the scoring before Marco Reus doubled their advantage.

Again Klopp masterminded a win in the first meeting of the season in the German Super Cup.

Mkhitaryan was on the scoresheet again while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bagged the second.

In the German semi-finals, it was Klopp's side who progressed but it needed a penalty shootout.

Former Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring but Aubameyang equalised with 15 minutes left to play.
