Alexis Sanchez’s Manchester United move leaves Arsenal short of quality in attack, admits Arsene Wenger
Man City also want Chilean superstar but Gunners boss concedes either way he needs to sign a top-class replacement
ARSENE WENGER admits Arsenal are dangerously low on quality without Alexis Sanchez after an embarrassing defeat at Bournemouth.
Chilean forward Sanchez is on the brink of a £30million move to Manchester United and looks to have played his last match for the Gunners after Wenger left him out of the squad to travel to the South Coast.
Wenger admitted: “I am concerned about the fact that where it matters, we are not dangerous enough.
“Where it matters is in the final third offensively and we did not look dangerous.
“If Sanchez goes we need to replace him, we have to respond to it.”
Gunners boss Wenger hopes to cover Sanchez’s exit with a £44m deal for Bordeaux’s Brazilian forward Malcom.

Asked whether Sanchez’s transfer was imminent after United gazumped Manchester City for the forward, Wenger replied: “I don’t master the rhythm of that but it could happen today, tomorrow or not at all.
“That’s why I didn’t take a decision to select him. I didn’t want to travel with him and suddenly he goes somewhere.

“It will be decided in the next 48 hours. It was a bit difficult for him because he was on standby, a little bit. But he did not refuse to play.”
Despite Chelsea also showing interest in Sanchez, they are unwilling to meet the £5m fee for the player’s agent.
