Manchester City offloading flop striker Olarenwaju Kayode just months after swooping ahead of Newcastle

Pep Guardiola's brother Pere co-owns the Girona side the Nigerian has been on loan at but the deal turned sour

MANCHESTER CITY want to flog striker Olarenwaju Kayode, just months after snatching him away from Newcastle, according to reports.

Pep Guardiola's side signed the 24-year-old from Austria Wien in the summer – where he had scored 30 league goals in two seasons.

But he was instantly loaned out to Spanish side Girona – which is co-owned by Guardiola’s brother and agent Pere.

But RMC claim Ligue 1 side Amiens are ready to take the Nigerian marksman on loan – with a view to a permanent switch – after he was recalled by City chiefs.

Newcastle thought they were close to landing the striker in the summer – only for City’s billions to sway the African – and they look like missing out again.

At Girona - alongside other City youngsters like Douglas Luiz, Aleix Garcia, Pablo Maffeo and Christian Haug – Kayode managed just two league starts and was benched an unlucky 13 times.

The unofficial Man City reserve side is up to tenth in the table, thanks largely to their relationship with the Premier League side.

But they will not be sad to see Kayode go – after he managed to contribute a single assist – leaving former Middlesbrough striker Christian Stuani to score the goals.
