Moussa Sissoko’s Tottenham exit delayed as Trabzonspor chief grows frustrated with Spurs negotiations

Winger a loan target for Trabzonspor but Turkish club say Spurs want permanent deal

MOUSSA SISSOKO is a loan target for Trabzonspor but the Turkish side are struggling to agree terms with Tottenham, their vice-president has confirmed.

The Evening Standard reports that Tottenham’s record signing Sissoko is expected to depart the club a year after joining for £30million from Newcastle.

Sissoko played his first game of Tottenham’s pre-season and struck the inside of the post in their 2-0 win over Juventus on Saturday.

But he was left out of the squad for their American tour after suffering with illness.

Trabzonspor vice-president Gencaga Meric says the club have firm interest in the 27-year-old, but are finding Spurs to be tough negotiators.

"Sissoko is keen on joining, we have spoken with him and talks went well," Meric said. "We have yet to convince Tottenham or their manager.

"Tottenham want to recoup most of what they invested in Sissoko but we want him on loan.

"We have made our offer and are waiting for a decision."

Trabzonspor confirmed last week their interest in Sissoko and are confident he can rediscover the form he showed at Euro 2016 for France.

Club resident Muharrem Usta said: "We are in talks with Moussa Sissoko. He is a very important player, Tottenham paid £35 million for him.

"He didn’t live up to expectations last season but this can happen in football.

"We want to loan him and get his career back on track.

"Obviously Tottenham do not want to give up on a player they paid that kind of money for but we will see."
