Leicester make £2m bid for Sheffield Wednesday striker George Hirst with teen’s stock on the rise
The young star has family ties with Wednesday but may look to move from his boyhood club due to their abundance of strikers
Leicester have offered £2million for Sheffield Wednesday teenager George Hirst, according to reports.
The 18-year old has been attracting the attention of top flight clubs after impressing in the England youth ranks.
Leeds have also targeted Hirst and are eager to beat Leicester to his signature before the transfer deadline ends tomorrow night, report the Mirror.
But the Owls appear reluctant to sell the striker who is the son of Wednesday legend, David, after already rejecting a £1m bid from the Foxes.
The youngster is emerging as one of England's best prospects for the future after putting on a show in the Toulon Tournament earlier this summer, helping the England Under-21 side lift the trophy in France.
He netted four goals to become the tournaments' joint-top goal scorer.
Hirst chose to follow in his dad's footsteps and snubbed top-tier clubs when he penned his first professional contract with the Owls in March 2016.
But he may now be looking for a move as he transitions into his senior career after failing to sign a new deal at Hillsborough.

Hirst has already made two substitute appearances for the Owls first team, but their striker-heavy side could prove to make his stay at the club difficult and come with less playing time.
That poses a dilemma for Wednesday who could be left out-of-pocket and see him leave for a smaller fee next summer if they don't cash in now.
